DYNAMIC DUO: ON THE BOAT

Ever since my sailing trip, I’ve been really into boating and just being on the water. Chalk it up to summer, sun and a need for exploration. Anyway, I’m finding inspiration this morning through these photos, so wanted to highlight in a Dynamic Duo post. After my trip, I realized that I would love to learn to sail someday. Putting it on my long-term to-do list, and in the meantime, I’ll stick to easier boating activities, like kayaking. Do you know how to sail? Are you a fan of boating?...

NEW BIKE FRIEND

Good news, all. I bucked up and bought a bike over the weekend! A sweet Fuji 10 speed road bike, to be exact. It’s something I’ve been wanting for awhile, and I just decided to get it done on Sunday. Traveled to Greenpoint and stopped over at The Bike Truck where Tom, a very friendly mechanic, showed me the ins and outs of my bike and helped make sure it was all tuned up. I had a nice ride back to the Bedford L stop and then down 2nd Avenue. Looking forward to taking it up the West Side Highway, through Central Park and all around...

BOSTON HARBOR

BOSTON HARBOR

I had the pleasure of visiting Boston last weekend, and spent a day sailing with a friend and her family. The harbor was stunning and the weather was beautiful. I learned a thing or two about the sport - like what a keel is - and yeah, I might have worked on my tan too. We also enjoyed a day at the beach and plenty of lobster, of course. Blueberry martinis on the porch didn’t hurt either. Getaways in the summer feel so much more liberating and fun, and I’m not sure if it’s the heat of the city, or the season, but I’m...

UNDERGROUND BALLERINA

UNDERGROUND BALLERINA

Well, what do you know? Seems like I just needed a little 2 week hiatus from this. Apologies for the silence here, but I am back now. And this shoot for Kurv Magazine really inspired me to share it with you. I love the juxtaposition of the elegant, graceful ballerina against the backdrop of a gritty, underground subway system. My subway system. But still, there’s something interesting about the mix. All I’m saying is, she’s making those plastic orange seats look pretty damn...

EAST VILLAGE ROOFTOPS

Do you guys remember last year’s photo shoot in DUMBO? Well, it’s June again, and my friend Andrew is back on his photo project grind. Megan and I were the subjects on June 11th. We chose an East Village rooftop as the setting for the evening. I had a blast and here are the results. Thanks for including us in your photo project, Andrew!...

INTRO TO FABRIC DYEING

INTRO TO FABRIC DYEING

Last week, I had the pleasure of taking a fabric dyeing class at Brooklyn Central, courtesy of CourseHorse. I’ve always been really intrigued by hand-painted and hand-dyed fabrics, so it seemed like a really fun learning opportunity. The BKC space also happens to be conveniently located in DUMBO, where I work, so it was very easy to say yes. I attended with a few other ladies, and loved the small class size. Rawan Rihani, our lovely instructor, walked us through basic color theory, shared some color inspiration, and then we got right to...

SARAH LEE PHOTOGRAPHY

I’ve been following Sarah on Flickr for some time now, but her latest post featuring friends, surf, the sea and dolphins (!!!) really wow-ed me. The photos are so beautiful, capturing moments in the wild with beautiful, friendly dolphins (one of my favorite animals, since forever ago, if you didn’t know) – and the angles and underwater vantage point is unique and breathtaking. See more of her work here, and enjoy some of my favorite selections...

ALT NYC RECAP

ALT NYC RECAP

Alt NYC happened on Thursday, and it was a great day of learning, smiles and networking! I wanted to share a photo recap of my experience with you. I met so many lovely ladies and one of my favorite parts was getting to mingle with all of them throughout the day. In addition to that, there were informative panels, amazing food spreads and a fun rooftop party afterwards with the most gorgeous view of the Hudson. There were some great talks at Alt. My favorite was the kickoff keynote by Tina Roth-Eisenberg, author of SwissMiss, and genius...
